World Earth Day is celebrated as an annual event by the people all across the world on 22nd of April in order to increase the awareness among people about the environment safety as well as to demonstrate the environmental protection measures. Our Earth is the only planet in the Universe where life is possible till date. It is very necessary to maintain the natural assets of the earth in order to continue the life on the earth. In the rush of the crowd, the most intelligent creature of the God called human is slowly losing its humanity and forgot to take care of the planet that gave it life and started using its resources very ruthlessly. The 22nd of April has been marked as an Earth Day to make the human race get aware about the importance of their planet.

As one of the institutions having responsibility to take care the environment, State University of Surabaya celebrates earth day annually by various activities. This year, Faculty of Languages of Arts as the faculty having a great concern on the environment brings a program called Earth Day Celebration with a theme “End Plastic Pollution”. This theme is taken by the fact that plastic nowadays becomes one of the biggest pollution happens in the world. To increase people’s awareness on the danger of plastic pollution and the importance of a healthy life, some programs are designed. There will be four main programs conducted : 3R (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) competition – a competition to recycle plastic trash to be useful things-, poster design competition, talk show on how to have a healthy life, and Let’s Get Planting Earth Day.
